Are you a Christian executive who feels called to lead with integrity and purpose?

What would your day look and feel like if you raised the roof on your career as an executive AND as a Christian?

As an executive career coach who shares your beliefs, I understand the unique challenges you face. In this post, I’ll share 5 Biblical tips that will help you raise the roof on your executive career, using your values and faith as your guide.

1. Seek God’s Guidance

As a Christian executive, it’s important to seek God’s guidance in all aspects of your career. Spend time in prayer and reflection, seeking His will for your life and career. Additionally, Moses sought God’s guidance before leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Moreover, you too can seek God’s guidance before making important career decisions.

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Call to action: Trust in God’s plan for your career and take the first step towards raising the roof on your executive career (see below).

2. Build a Strong Network of Fellow Believers

Surround yourself with fellow believers! This can be a source of encouragement and support as you navigate the challenges of executive leadership. Moreover, seek out Christian professional organizations. Attend faith-based leadership conferences. Join a local Christian business group. Remember how Paul and Barnabas encouraged and strengthened the believers in each town they visited. Therefore, find your own community of believers to support you.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”

Call to action: Join our community of fellow Christian executives and take advantage of the support and resources they offer (see below).

3. Lead with Integrity and Humility

As a Christian executive, it’s essential to lead with integrity and humility. This means being honest and transparent with your team and colleagues. Admit your mistakes. Seek forgiveness when necessary. Prioritize the needs of others above your own. Operate as a servant leader who leads by example. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, therefore, so you too can lead with humility and put the needs of others first.

Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Call to action: Lead with integrity and humility and take your career to the next level (see below).

4. Prioritize Work-Life Balance

As a Christian executive, it’s important to prioritize your faith and family above your career. This means setting boundaries around your work hours and making time for prayer, worship, and fellowship. Therefore, it also means carving out time for your family and loved ones, and additionally, being present and engaged when you’re with them. God rested on the seventh day of creation. Moreover, He commanded us to keep the Sabbath holy and take time to rest and recharge. Therefore, this example is worth imitating!

Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

Call to action: Prioritize your faith and family and take your work-life balance to the next level (see below).

5. Embrace Lifelong Learning with a Christian Perspective

As a Christian executive, it’s essential to continue growing and learning throughout your career. Seek out opportunities for professional development, but make sure they align with your faith and values. Moreover, read books and attend conferences that offer a Christian perspective on leadership and success. Therefore, not only will this help you grow as a leader, but it will also deepen your relationship with God.

2 Timothy 2:15: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

Remember, as a Christian executive, you have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on your team, organization, and the world around you. Additionally, trust in God’s plan for your life, and lastly, know that He is with you every step of the way.
